Postpartum Nutrition & Functional Medicine Support

You've had your baby. But what about you?
Pregnancy changes your body. Birth asks a huge amount of it. Breastfeeding can ask even more.
And then, somehow, you’re expected to recover, function on broken sleep, look after a baby, return to exercise or work – and perhaps even get your body back.
As a mum of 3, I know first hand that the postpartum journey isn't always straight forward. But, after all the ups and downs and unexpected challenges, I've come out the other side not only with personal experience but professional training that has helped me understand so much more.
And I can help you if you feel like your struggling to make sense of it all.
- You're so exhausted, you can't even think about 'getting going'… but everyone tells you that’s normal when you have a baby.
- Your brain feels foggy and you can’t find your words anymore....... but everyone says it's just 'baby brain'.
- You struggle to get out of the door without feeling anxious, overwhelmed or emotionally fragile.... but your told to just get on with it, it goes away.
- You're losing hair, craving sugar, struggling with your weight or simply don’t recognise your body anymore..... but you should just push through it (you shouldn't!)
- Or perhaps you’re functioning – but you know you don’t quite feel like you.
These experiences are common.
But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be asking 'what does my body need now to support a full recovery'?

Nutrition & Postpartum Recovery
Nutrition after pregnancy isn’t simply about losing baby weight.
Pregnancy, birth, blood loss, breastfeeding, disrupted sleep and the relentless demands of caring for a baby can all affect your nutritional needs, energy and recovery.
And nutrition doesn't just support your muscles and metabolism.
It provides the raw materials your body needs for your brain, hormones, neurotransmitters, thyroid, immune system and nervous system too.
That means when I work with a postpartum women, I’m interested in far more than what the scales say.
I want to know:
-
How is your energy?
-
How are you sleeping – when you actually get the opportunity?
-
How resilient do you feel?
-
Are you anxious, low or overwhelmed?
-
How is your concentration and memory?
-
Are you experiencing that frustrating postpartum 'baby brain'?
-
How is your digestion?
-
What happened during your pregnancy and birth?
-
Did you experience significant blood loss?
-
Are you breastfeeding?
-
Has your menstrual cycle returned?
-
How are you recovering from exercise?
-
And most importantly – are you getting what your body needs to rebuild?
